LCdr (NL) Holger Storm
LCDR(NL) Holger Storm joined the Navy League of Canada, Calgary Branch in November 1969 as their Fundraising Chairman. He concurrently held a position of Civilian Instructor with both NLCC Captain Jackson and NLWC Jenny Wren, the wrennette corps in Calgary.
He joined NLCC Captain Jackson in September 1972 as a Midshipman and took up a position as Stores Officer. He remained with NLCC Captain Jackson and the Calgary Branch until February 1987 when he was approached by the Alberta Division of the Navy League of Canada to form a new Navy League Corps in northeast Calgary. He gathered the necessary interested people to form the Bow Valley Branch, and in April of 1987 became the first Commanding Officer of #166 NLCC John A. Hamilton.

He continued as the Commanding Officer until February of 1994 when he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander (NL) and joined the Alberta Division Officer staff as a Division Area Officer. He retired from Alberta Division in 1998 and rejoined NLCC John A. Hamilton before retiring in 2000.
LCDR Storm spent many years as a Branch Member and an Officer. He passed away in October of 2008 with nearly 40 years of dedicated service to the Navy League of Canada and to youth in Alberta.
Legacy
To honour his exceptional legacy, the Navy League Cadet Corps Holger Storm #219 was established in Airdrie, Alberta, and presented its warrant as the newest Corps in Alberta on the 23rd of August 2018.
The Corps began parading on September 5, 2018, with 22 cadets and 3 Officers on parade. The official Opening Ceremony was conducted on December 5, 2018, when Holger Storm’s daughter, Susan Hausberg, and son-in-law, Scott Hausberg, cut the official “cap tally” ribbon declaring the corps open — just one day after what would have been Holger Storm’s 90th birthday.
